Recognition Of Prior Learning (RPL)


The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a new approach, which is being introduced in Pakistan to recognize and certify the competence and skills of millions of skilled workers coming out of informal TVET sector known as Ustad-Shagrid system. This approach will enable the skilled workers to get their skills recognized and subsequently they will have access to better job opportunities and further education. In technical terms-RPL- refers to a process that examines evidence of past learning and experience.

We value people learning out of the Ustad-Shagird system. Hence, we’ve devised RPL, the Recognition of Prior Learning, which is a new approach to certify and recognize the skills of several workers that have not obtained education in conventional forms. This approach will enable the workers to get their skills recognized and get better opportunities in terms of employment and education.

ITHM with the collaboration of National Vocational & Technical Training Commission certified the industry professionals through RPL in different hospitality departments. All of the professionals were having the relevant industry experience but was not having any course certificate. The candidates were appeared in the single day RPL assessment and declared as Competent by certified National Assessor after their satisfactory performance as per evidence guide.
